Lauren + Fish

We figured out Lauren was allergic to fish the other day. She ate shrimp around the age of 2 and puked it right back up. Kyle is allergic as well so we've avoided it since then. Recently, I cooked some Mahi Mahi and Lauren didn't enjoy it too much.

That night, we took a bath and got ready for bed. Kyle noticed some spots appearing on her legs and back but she didn't seem too phased so we tucked her in and said goodnight. The next morning, it had invaded her face and neck.

We went off to the clowns (this was over Spring Break)
and I got her in for an afternoon allergy appointment
Let's just say by the time we made it to the allergist, she was completely broken out and plastered in hives. We had to reschedule the appointment for the following week and off we ran to get some children's allergy relief. Lauren fell asleep on the way to Target and when she woke up in the front of the cart, her eyes were practically swollen shut. I plopped some medicine right in her mouth and we waited.

This picture was taken about 30 minutes post medicine.

We discovered codfish, halibut, tuna, and mahi mahi are off limits. Interesting, shrimp wasn't positive. I am convinced the tuna and shrimp ones were wrong because she has had tuna A LOT with no reaction.

Miles @ 9 months

Miles is 9 months old

He enjoys pulling himself up on things, especially the dishwasher
Watching his big sister run around and sing
Pulling all the books off the shelves
Crawling up and down the hallway
Eating tons of food (fruit, veggies, meat crumbles, and eggs)
 Sleeping with Mom and Dad
 Making funny faces
We sure do love having this boy around! I can't wait to take him to his next pediatrician appointment in a few weeks to see how much this lug weighs. This kid is solid!

Caveboy gnawed on some lamb chop bones
 This kid can eat!!!
 Bed head!
This was her "bed head face" she said
 Just because it is cute

I Agree with Mark Twain...

Our "New Food Every Week" Challenge has proven to be rather tasty. We have experimented with red bananas, asparagus (new for Lauren), turnips, radishes, canary melon, and now...the beloved Cherimoya!! This fruit is a gem!

The Cherimoya {Chair-Uh-Moi-Ah} originates from the Andes but can be grown in multiple climates: even Southern California. They are ripe when they have a slight give to them like a ripe avocado.

Lauren wasn't sure what to think of the expensive ($3.19) greenish looking asymmetrical fruit.
Mark Twain described the Cherimoya as "the most delicious fruit known to men"...I agree!
It's flesh is soft and white, speckled with dark seeds throughout. They are easy to remove as you spoon the custard-like fruit directly into your watering mouth.
Described as a blend of banana, peach, strawberry, papaya, and pineapple. Others refer to it as the "ice cream fruit" or tasting like bubble gum! We chilled ours in the fridge several hours before indulging.
If you haven't gathered from this post, I am quite obsessed with the Cherimoya. I went to our local grocery store and asked if they had any exotic fruit. They directed me to the bananas, coconut, and kiwi...rats! I did have a nice little chat with the produce manager who told me he would order some "fun fruit" for me: star fruit and papaya and would definitely look into Cherimoya. Seriously folks...try it!

Final Easter Post

We got all dressed up to go to Church. Lauren was so excited to wear her pretty white dress Santa gave her.
 Miss Dimples
After Church, we headed over to our friend's house. Tami made resurrection rolls for the kids and they were excited to open them up.
Funny...none of the kids really ate them

 Easter Egg Hunt time!

She closed her eyes while Kyle opened her eggs, silly girl!
 No way!
 The 3 Best Friends

We attempted a family senior wasn't too successful!
Lauren and Miyah's senior pictures were great though!

 Miles played in the grass
We came home from a long morning and afternoon and this is what these three did in the yard!
