Miles on the Move

It's a bird...it's a plane...
Kyle put him on his tummy on the boppy and I came out of the kitchen to this
He slowly kicked his way off

 Now where should I go?

Willow

We got an "Elf on the Shelf" this year for Lauren. She eagerly named her "Willow" and although she got into a bit of mischief this year, I am sure she will get into much more in the years to come.
Lauren was so excited to find her each morning!

 Making a North Pole snowman
 Roasting marshmallows

Nothing like a roasted marshmallow at 5am
Making faces on our picture with a dry erase marker
In other news, our kitchen that once looked like this...
Now looks like this...yeah for a dishwasher! This picture was taken pre-cabinet door. We are enjoying the extra time we have each day :)

These Moments

I don't want to forget
 these moments of togetherness...
 ...getting to know each other...
 ...being in each other's presence...
 ...learning, observing...
 ...and hand-holding...

Technology and 3 year olds

At least in her email to "Z" (while she was supposed to be napping), she typed her name correctly. Nothing like waking up from family nap time to discover a "failed to send" email in my Inbox...

Thanksgiving 2012

We always host Thanksgiving. I love cooking for our family and filling our bellies to the brim with delicious home-cooked meals. My family came up for a short while to indulge.

Grandma Cindy read many books
We usually cook a ham but let Uncle Tyler enjoy a turkey this year
 Lauren helped prep it
She was rinsed off well after but had fun buttering it up
 The final product, yummo!
Some of the food and Grandpa Larry
One of Lauren's favorites, the sweet potato rolls!

Lauren tried some sparkling (non-alcoholic) cider. It was her first experience trying a carbonated beverage....
...and this is what she thought!
Pointing to her favorite: green bean casserole made from scratch.
This is what Miles did while we ate
Later we indulged again in fresh REAL pumpkin pie. I love everything about a homemade piece of pumpkin pie with homemade whipped cream!
Even the hippos were hungry on Thanksgiving
 We drank some "Middle Sister"
Black Friday...Kyle took my parents to the airport to head off for a cruise. Afterward, we loaded up in the car and headed out to the Mall. These two had a rough couple of days eating and playing.
Post-shopping and pre-Christmas tree chopping, we grabbed a bite to eat...at "Larry's Diner"
Our first real Christmas tree. It was absolutely freezing!
Miles was not having the chilly wind!
 A nice clean cut
We warmed up by the fire with hot cocoa while Dad got the tree ready for loading
and the way home looked very similar to the way there!

I've Run Out of Space

I ran out of picture space on my old blog and instead of paying each month to add more, I have decided to create a new blog link.

Please refer to my old blog: kjrouse.blogspot.com for posts before 12/8/12.
